This first annual Summer Social Institute will bring together parents and professionals to explore the complexities of social through the lifespan. Participants will hear the story of a successful woman with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and be walked through her journey to finding tools and strategies to help her navigate the social world. During the second part of the morning, Chris and Laura will explore both research based and clinically sound (and practical) interventions to support social and executive function learning at home, at school and within the counseling setting. This summer social institute is not to be missed as it will blend real life stories with clinical methodologies to better support the social learners in their life today. After months of working with his editor, Chris was offered a contract today, December 13th to publish his first book with Routledge Publishing Co. This book is tentatively entitled: Effective Therapeutic Practice for Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Strengths-Based Approach for Counselors.

We are proud to announce our new SLC You Tube News Channel. This was started as a summer project for one of our social cognitive groups and we as an office will be working to continue their hard work. Thanks to Ashley, Jason and Brendan for all their hard work. We hope you enjoy our channel and please feel free to share it with others!
The WTA will be making a stop in New Haven, CT later in August. The SLC has been invited by our friends at the ASD Fitness Center to join in the festivities on Aug 24th. Please come down to Yale University to see some amazing tennis, support Autism awareness here in CT and learn more about our programs at the SLC. Erica and Chris will both be down at the event so please stop by and say hello!!!

This week we have also received big news that the SLC will be back on the national stage in June/July. Chris has been invited to keynote a full day talk in Tampa, FL on June 22 and speak at the 2016 ASA National Conference in New Orleans in July!! More news will come on both of these events!!!

We are very excited to announce that in early April, Chris will be signing a contract with Routledge Publishing. He will be working with this publishing company to put out a book for those in the mental health field and working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum.
